For those of you using your blog as a sales page, here’s a few marketing strategies you can use to market your blog, a product or service.[ad]

By using a “hidden value” strategy, you’re telling prospects that by purchasing your product or service, they will also receive bonuses who’s value is a mystery and in order for them to realize that value, they have to purchase your product or service. What you do is let them know that “value” will be revealed once they make a purchase.

Another strategy you can use is what’s called a “Confident Sell Out” strategy. Not only are you expressing confidence to your prospects that your product or service will sell out, but you’re also creating a sense of urgency in your prospect, i.e. a “I’ve got to get this now before it’s gone” type of feeling. In fact, by putting a time limit on how long your product or service will be available, you are expressing even more confidence that your product or service will sell out.

What some marketers out there do is try and touch their customers. Car salesmen are well known for doing this. Next time you’re checking out cars at a car lot, I’ll wager big bucks that a salesman will attempt to put his/her hand on you at some point during his/her pitch. Online marketers can’t actually touch you, but they accomplish the very same principle by using a technique known as the “I know its hard to decide with all these online marketers pulling in all different directions” strategy or for short, a “bombarded” strategy. A marketer using this technique is trying to get you to see that he/she “understands” and is sympathetic to all the advertisements you sort thru on a daily basis.

The “No Installation Necessary” strategy is one that caters to the computer illiterate, the computer-phobic and those who just don’t want to hassle with any complicated software or the like.

You can also use the “plug it” strategy. Using this strategy will let prospects know that your product can be adjusted for any specific need or any specific situation the prospect may have.

There’s also what’s referred to as the “Lock It in” strategy. This is telling your prospects that to avoid any recurring fees, they should purchase now. This is also a good way to establish a sense of urgency in your prospect because if they really like your product or service, they’ll snap it up quickly to avoid having to pay monthly fees. You might even use the date of when your product or service becomes subscription only as a means to entice prospects to buy now.

Providing specific examples of how your current customers have benefited by your product or service is called the “They All Did” strategy. You can provide customer success stories or bullets in your sales letter or even go so far as to provide actual customer testimonials in your efforts to encourage purchases.

Now, if any online marketer offers you the chance to become a JV partner (I get these a lot in the mass amounts of email I get) is called the “Personal Partner” strategy. What these marketers are doing is telling potential prospects that if they promote their product, they will receive a higher commission rate than say, a free affiliate. They may even drop a few heavyweight names in the industry as an enticement.

These are just a few of the many ways you can use to market a product or service. Whichever method you decide to choose, just make sure you are being real with your prospects. The one thing you don’t want to do is alienate your prospects.
