For many people, blogging is fun. But for many others, blogging is a means to earn some income. Whatever method you use, be it contextual ads, banner ads, paid ads or some other method of generating income, the key for you to maximize your profit is by driving hordes of traffic to your blog. The reason for this is simple. The more traffic to your blog, the more opportunity for readers to click through on your ads. There are many methods you can use to increase traffic to your blog. I will focus on a few of these key concepts ranging from participating in relevant forums, optimizing your blog for the search engines to keeping your blog interesting to your readers.

Become active in forums

Being an active member of forums that are relevant to your blog’s niche is a very simple method for you to drive targeted traffic to your blog. You’ll want to pay particular attention to the rules regarding posting in the forums you choose. While many forums are relatively liberal when it comes to the posting of links, others have very strict rules in this regard so make sure you not only read but obey the rules. Failure to do so will result in you being banned.

Something else to keep in consideration is to avoid appearing to post your web address in such a way to be thought of as spam. The best rule of thumb is to only make posts which are relevant to the current thread and to only include your web address link in your signature, regardless of whether you’re allowed otherwise. In this way, you will build your reputation as a contributor of useful information and it will your reputation which will entice other members to click your signature link and visit your blog.

Blog Optimization

Optimizing your blog for the search engines, as I’ve remarked before, is absolutely essential for traffic generation. I mention it again because it really is that important. Most of us don’t have the luxury nor the means to hire a search engine professional to achieve high rankings. However, there are some steps, other than updating your blog on a regular basis (see my previous post), that you can use that can boost your SE rank. These include researching and then using relevant keywords liberally and naturally throughout your posts and also incorporating these keywords into your title, META and image tags.

The use of these methods of blog promotion, while not glamorous, will help you in terms of your search engine rank and will help you build a solid reputation. As with anything worthy, you’ll get only that which you’re willing to put in. As I’ve already mentioned, most of us have neither the luxury nor the means to have someone do this for them and these methods require work. Put in the time and the payout can be huge.

That’s all I got for today.

Here’s hoping this finds you well.

Just one quick comment here . . . sometimes, becoming active in Forums or portals is much easier said than done. I can think of a few (that shall remain nameless) where outsiders have a tough time even attempting to become active, because the real players at the Forum are already established, and refuse to share the spotlight with others.

Nice post.

I know what you mean, Eric….One of those “who shall remain nameless” is a royal pain to get noticed…..Nevertheless, the method is valid, even with having to deal with knuckleheads who aren’t real receptive to newcomers. And that’s a shame, I think. Thanks for your comment. I truly appreciate it.

sometimes forum gives huge traffic, chose the right forum that have same topic with our blog. write an article in e-magazine also give a good traffic :)

Great information for optimizing your blog! As far as the other comments, posting in forums may be intimidating at times, and some big-headed people do like to steal the spotlight every time someone comments on anything. Ignore them! Go ahead and give your own ideas and insight:) They put their pants on the same way we all do.

Thanks Tess! I couldn’t have put it better myself…Thanks for the comment, I appreciate you stopping by!
