As a whole, the Web has been the moving force in challenging boundaries, as well as helping to make long tasks simple. Electronic mail (email) is one such application that has enable people to communicate worldwide.

The definition of email marketing is the use of email in sending newsletters, offers and other content instead of more traditional methods (phone or direct mailings). Because of spam, online merchants have gone to great efforts to ensure any electronic communications do not come accross as such.

Given these troublesome aspects, how is it that email marketing has become such a valuable tool for marketing a product or service? Well, the first and foremost attraction of email marketing is in its low cost. This method of marketing allows for a business to start a marketing campaign without the traditionally high costs of printing and distribution, in addition to the marginal costs of follow up. Similiarly, there’s little extra cost in a strategy to increase the number of new customers. Another cost effective aspect of email marketing is consumer behavior. Statistically, people spend more time online either reading, sending or managing email

Due to email comprising one of the largest activities of people online, it makes perfect sense that this type of marketing responds directly to the potential of the market of any sort, let alone an untapped market. Email marketing allows for “test-runs” on a target market without high cost and provides the ability to make modifications as said campaign is running.

Email marketing gives you almost limitless access to those people who have shown an interest in products, services or your prose. Like any other type of marketing, email marketing is about fostering better relationships by providing value to your readers, visitor and/or customers. And whether you’re a blogger looking for more traffic or a merchant looking for more sales, providing value is the best way for you to provide a reason for people to patronize your blog or sales page. And at the end of the day, that’s exactly what its all about.
