As I’ve said before, affiliate marketing is one of the best and quickest ways to earn an income online. Done well, it could bring you a big fortune in a relatively short period of time. For those of you interested in earning an income online, here is a 7 step system that can help you get started earning affiliate commissions in as little as 7 days.

Find a Profitable Affiliate Niche Market

This is the most important step you’ll need to master and one that I actually hadn’t considered. The trick is to compile a list of topics from interests, hobbies or problems you’d like to be able to solve. Next, use free Web resources like search engines, web directories, online forums and discussion groups and identify the level of interest for each of the topics you’ve come up with. Once you’ve done that, you can use a keyword tracker tool like Wordtracker (get a free 7 day trial here) or you can use Wordstream for free. What you’re looking for are keywords that show both a high level of interest and a good range of existing affiliate products.

Setting up a Affiliate Website

Your next step is to set up a website to use to build your list and market your affiliate link. Your website could focus on product reviews or be an informative content or you could simply set up a one page site that redirects to your affiliate site. No matter which way you decide to go, you must be sure to include an opt-in form on your site to capture leads and build a list (something I’ve neglected to do, so don’t be like me). The list you build can potentially bring you income over and over.

Begin Building a Relationship With Your Leads

By the use of an autoresponder, like Get Response, you can compose content rich email messages, set these up in your autoresponder and automate your entire follow up system while at the same time, educating and establishing relationships with your list members.

Check Your Website Prior to Launch

You want to test your site prior to launch to make sure all your links are functioning properly, all spelling and grammer errors are fixed, all your autoresponder messages are loaded etc. The one thing you don’t want is to irritate any visitors with broken links and bad site design.

Begin to Generate Traffic To Your Site

Some common ways to drive traffic to your site are PPC (pay per click) advertising, writing articles and posting them article directories (with a link back to your site), participating in online forums (also with a link back to your site), and joint ventures.

Affiliate Marketing on the Back End

One of the most crucial aspects of affiliate marketing is what’s referred to as “back end marketing”. Essentially, this is the marketing of related offers on your check out page, your thanks for your order page and on your 404 error page. One time offer pages also far into this category.

Leverage and Duplication

Finally, you want to duplicate by applying these very same steps to another affiliate product. In other words, wash, rinse and repeat. This step, once automated, will become easier.
