Ok, so you get it now. You’ve come to the conclusion that the money is in the list and it’s time you had a good opt in list. Countless experts, articles and numerous success stories of people getting control of their financial destinies has finally convinced you. You finally realize that you need a good opt-in list. Here are 3 ways how you can do just that.
1. Get to know your subscribers and let them get to know you.
Launching an opt in list and hitting up your subscribers to make a purchase immediately makes you an expert or a believable seller not. You want to take the time to develop a relationship with your subscribers before you try to sell them. You want to write as many articles as you can that are related to your product or service as you can and learn what needs your subscribers may have and then target those needs. One great way to do just that is to put a forum on your site/blog to enable you to gain knowledge of your subscribers. Another is to become a member of other forums in your niche and make constructive comments. In doing so, you’ll learn what people need, you’ll build trust with those members at which point you’ll be able to begin to target those needs.
When you feel that you have a base of forum members who trust you, then you can start your opt in list. Ask your forum friends to join your list. Include a signature link to your site on your posts to enable your friends and other posters to see what your business is all about. Only when you establish your credibility and people begin to trust you can you begin to earn money. Folks want to make sure their getting there monies worth and if people don’t know you, don’t expect them to buy anything from you.
2. Identify a need and fill it.
Invest a great deal of time and energy in identifying what exactly it is that people need. Do your due diligence and research that need, become knowledgeable about that need and be able to provide suggestions to your subscribers and forum posters on how to fill that need. Keep in mind not to body slam your subscribers or fellow forum posters, you don’t want to turn them off. Assist your subscribers and posters with helpful information and leave a simple text link to your product or service in your signature. This is also a good way to drive traffic to your blog, if you have one.
I have read it’s best to sell something you have an interest in and I’ve also read that may not always be a great idea. On the one hand, selling something you have an interest in gives you the ability to speak with confidence about the product or service you are offering. On the other hand, there may not be many folks who share the same interest or there may be no market for what you are interested in. However, if you do your research well, this will not be an issue because you will know what it is that people need and your interest should be in filling that need that people have.
3. Introduce yourself and become friends with other opt-in list users.
Developing a relationship with someone who has built a successful opt in list is most beneficial for you. While there are many great article and ebook on the subject, absolutely nothing like learning from someone who has been there and done that. This person can not only show you how to do something, but also how to avoid any pitfalls and mistakes. You know what they say. While experience is the best teacher, copying someone else’s formula is the next best thing. Developing this kind of relationship can benefit you in more ways than just an opt in list also. Someone with experience can show you what methods work the best and which methods to avoid. And while your situation may be different than the person you’re learning from, the concept you’ll be learning will be extremely helpful to you in the long run.
Remember, this isn’t going to happen overnight. You’ll have some work to do building your first opt in list. As your list grows, you’ll want to maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and managable. But most importantly, keep your subscribers happy and they will buy from you.
