Optimizing your blog/site for the search engines is the process of selecting the most applicable and targeted keywords or keywords phrases to enable your blog/site to rank highly in the search engines, so that when someone is searching for those specific keywords or keyword phrases, your blog/site is featured on the first page of those search engines listings.

This involves ensuring your keywords are in the meta tags of your site/blog, as well as having a certain percentage of them in your content and building outside links (known as backlinks) that point back to your blog/site. Because search engines keep their methods secret, a search engine often uses hundreds of factors to determine where a blog/site may rank. Not only that, the algorithms they use change constantly. So much so, a blog or site could rank #1 in one search engine and, theoretically, not rank at all in another. More likely, however, you’ll see results similar to how my blog ranks: #4 for my keywords in Google, #10 in Yahoo and #3 in Bing (formerly known as MSN Search).

Thought I forgot, didn’t you? Much thanks for all of you, not just my top droppers, who visit my blog. I truly appreciate your visits, your comments and your encouragement.

I feel the need to let you know that this post is in response to a derogatory post made by Blog @ jDonuts, where he/she uses a derogatory acronym in order to get his/her point across. The acronym, GTFO, means “Get The Fuck Off”. It’s a two bit gamer acronym gamers use when communicating with one another. This person even went to the extreme to link this acronym to a page on his/her blog to make sure people know what it means with a image of Jesus flipping the visitor off. Far be from me to be preaching the gospel, I am not the most religious person. Nevertheless, I would never show such an image knowing damn well it would offend a great many people.

PJ and I would like to publicly thank and extend our sincere appreciation for the gift we received from Eli @ Business Sphere and his wife Ma Elena @ One World Realty. As a Christmas gift, Eli and Ma Elena purchased a 31 day Adgitize ad block for our fledgling business, Tranquil Desires. As PJ recently remarked to me, it’s amazing that we have been able to develop some very close relationships online. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

Thank you so very much.

As I’ve said before, affiliate marketing is one of the best and quickest ways to earn an income online. Done well, it could bring you a big fortune in a relatively short period of time. For those of you interested in earning an income online, here is a 7 step system that can help you get started earning affiliate commissions in as little as 7 days.

Find a Profitable Affiliate Niche Market

This is the most important step you’ll need to master and one that I actually hadn’t considered. The trick is to compile a list of topics from interests, hobbies or problems you’d like to be able to solve. Next, use free Web resources like search engines, web directories, online forums and discussion groups and identify the level of interest for each of the topics you’ve come up with. Once you’ve done that, you can use a keyword tracker tool like Wordtracker (get a free 7 day trial here) or you can use Wordstream for free. What you’re looking for are keywords that show both a high level of interest and a good range of existing affiliate products.

When you make a purchase of a service or item and recommend said service or item to a friend who purchases, you are practicing a form of viral marketing. Expressing your satisfaction with a product or service by telling everyone you know is viral marketing. Essentially, you’ve advertised through word of mouth.

That is the whole deal behind viral marketing. It’s an advertising strategy that gets people to pass on a marketing message that easily spreads out, exponentially, like a virus.

Now, the concept behind viral marketing isn’t a new one, in fact, it’s been around for centuries. However, there wasn’t a name for until 1997 when a venture capitalist came up with the term in reference to Window Hotmail’s marketing practice of appending an ad to each email message of all their users. To put in simply, a receiver of an Hotmail email clicks on their link in the email, the receiver signs up and advertises Windows Hotmail each time he/she sends out an email. And so on and so on it goes. Growth, like this, is referred to as an exponential curve.

For those of your who’ve visited my blog before, you know I’m not real big on contests.

But I think this is one that’s worthy of your consideration.

As a whole, the Web has been the moving force in challenging boundaries, as well as helping to make long tasks simple. Electronic mail (email) is one such application that has enable people to communicate worldwide.

The definition of email marketing is the use of email in sending newsletters, offers and other content instead of more traditional methods (phone or direct mailings). Because of spam, online merchants have gone to great efforts to ensure any electronic communications do not come accross as such.

Given these troublesome aspects, how is it that email marketing has become such a valuable tool for marketing a product or service? Well, the first and foremost attraction of email marketing is in its low cost. This method of marketing allows for a business to start a marketing campaign without the traditionally high costs of printing and distribution, in addition to the marginal costs of follow up. Similiarly, there’s little extra cost in a strategy to increase the number of new customers. Another cost effective aspect of email marketing is consumer behavior. Statistically, people spend more time online either reading, sending or managing email

Email marketing can be an extremely effective method to get your messages to your readers. In general, this method is relatively inexpensive to implement and is a great way to increase your credibility. And, as compared to direct (traditional) mail, email marketing is definitely a great bargain with an average cost per message of a few cents with a response rate range of 5-35%, depending on the industry and format. One of the biggest advantages to using email marketing is the ability to find out about the needs and wants of your readers. Most opt in software give you the ability to tailor your opt in box to fit your need. With this ability, you can then use that information to target your posts and your newsletter to accommodate your readers.

The advantages to this type of marketing:

As you may have noticed, there’s been quite a bit of activity going on here on my blog lately. I’ve got my link directory up and I encourage all of you to drop your link in my blog directory for some link love, if you want. Also, I’m working on getting PJ’s bath and body site up, so her customers can start ordering directly thru Paypal. On top of that, I’ll soon be offering digital products via my blog. I’m still playing with the plugin, so it’s still a work in progress. Not only that, I want to get PJ’s site done first, so my thing is on the backburner for now.

For many people, blogging is fun. But for many others, blogging is a means to earn some income. Whatever method you use, be it contextual ads, banner ads, paid ads or some other method of generating income, the key for you to maximize your profit is by driving hordes of traffic to your blog. The reason for this is simple. The more traffic to your blog, the more opportunity for readers to click through on your ads. There are many methods you can use to increase traffic to your blog. I will focus on a few of these key concepts ranging from participating in relevant forums, optimizing your blog for the search engines to keeping your blog interesting to your readers.
