There’s a lot of people out there who just simply dread having to write articles. Many of those people feel as though writing is just too much work. Some people feel its just one big waste of time because they figure no one will want to read what they write. In fact, there are some people who are of the opinion that reading articles is too much work as well. Funny thing is, articles are supposed to be read. Articles that don’t get read are truly a waste of time and effort.

The Catch 22 in all this is that articles have to be written to be read. They just have to be good to be read. See the thing is, writing a good article doesn’t have to be a chore. There are just some guidelines you need to follow and once you’ve gotten the hang of it, putting together good articles becomes a snap and can lead to some income for you and your site.

Once you gotten your articles together, got them submitted and published, your work doesn’t end there. By this point, you should have targeted some keywords from your research and you should see your articles showing up somewhere in the search engines, but since you’re going to want get more traffic to your articles, you’re going to need your articles to be listing higher in the search engine listing.

The best way to do this is to do it just like you would for any other webpage: Links that point back to your articles. Because you really don’t want to spend an inordinate amount of time doing this, the quickest and easiest way to do this is by the means of social bookmarking.

Now that you’ve decided on what keywords you’re going to focus on, you’ll need to add those keywords to your articles. You’ll want to be careful when doing this because the search engines have gotten hip to people stuffing keywords into their articles. Stuffing keywords into articles is considered spamming and you’ll get delisted in a hurry should you go this route.

What you want to do is insert your keywords in a way that does not appear unnatural. In other words, you want your keywords to flow smoothly throughout your article. Also, you want keep your keyword density in the 1% – 3% range. Put simply, one “short” keyword (2-3 words) and two “long” keywords (4+ words).

With this done, you should see your articles start showing up for the keywords you’ve targeted. Now all you have left to consider is the other aspects of article marketing.

Picking up from my last post, researching keywords isn’t really that difficult and while there are many keyword research tools out there, Google’s Adwords Keyword Tool is the tool of choice when it comes to researching keywords. Makes sense, doesn’t it? Google is the most popular of all the search engines out there.

Now, there are 3 things you must keep in mind when conducting your keyword research because they play a very important role in determining what keywords you’re going to target. Those are:

# of Searches

If you’ve already figured out that this simply refers to the amount of searches for a given keyword, you’d be absolutely correct. Simply put, if a keyword or keyword phrase shows a high number of searches, it shows you that people are showing a high level of interest in that particular keyword or keyword phrases. If that’s the case, then that keyword or keyword phrase might be one that you’d be interested in.

While article marketing may sound complicated, at its core, it really isn’t. The only goal of article marketing is to entice your article’s readers to click thru to your blog or affiliate site from the link that’s located in the resource box of your article.

One might think submitting tons of articles would be enough to get people to click through to your blog/site and that’s somewhat true. Quantity over quality will get you some clicks, but you’d be spending far too much of your time writing. I mean, you do want to have a life, don’t you? The amount of time you’d be spending writing isn’t an effective means of using article marketing quantity of articles you write isn’t an effective means of using this technique. The reality of the situation is that far too many people tend to not do well with article marketing due to not thinking it through when they start a campaign of this sort.

As I’ve said before, affiliate marketing is one of the best and quickest ways to earn an income online. Done well, it could bring you a big fortune in a relatively short period of time. This is the most important step you’ll need to master and one that I actually hadn’t considered. The trick is to compile a list of topics from interests, hobbies or problems you’d like to be able to solve. Next, use free Web resources like search engines, web directories, online forums and discussion groups and identify the level of interest for each of the topics you’ve come up with. Once you’ve done that, you can use a keyword tracker tool like Wordtracker (get a free 7 day trial here) or you can use Wordstream for free. What you’re looking for are keywords that show both a high level of interest and a good range of existing affiliate products.
